Cherry-Guardino: Where Fremont Comes Together

Modern apartment building at The Asher in Fremont with stone-and-stucco facade, large glass windows, balconies, landscaped walkway, outdoor seating, and views toward the rolling East Bay foothills.

Parkside Convenience in Central Fremont

One of Fremont’s most centrally located residential neighborhoods, Cherry-Guardino sits just east of Central Park and Lake Elizabeth, a few minutes from the Fremont BART station, and close to Fremont Boulevard and Paseo Padre Parkway. It gets its name from the nearby Cherry Avenue and Guardino Drive, which together became a convenient way to describe this central residential area of Fremont.

Daily routines are easy and convenience, from walks around the lake to quick trips for groceries (Whole Foods is under 1 mile from The Asher). iI's also relatively easy to head south into the South Bay, or north toward Oakland or San Francisco.

Cherry-Guardino also sits close to Central Park and Lake Elizabeth, giving the neighborhood unusually direct access to one of Fremont’s largest and most used outdoor spaces. Homes with open exposures can also take in the East Bay's gentle rolling foothills, plus the the landscaped walkways along the Asher's beautiful Linear Green.

Near Central Park: Wide Open Spaces

Central Park covers more than 450 acres and is organized around an 80-acre lake with a leisurely, two-mile paved loop. Built in the late 1960s, the lake is stocked for fishing and functions as the visual and geographic center of the park, with most paths and activity areas radiating out from it. Because the trail is wide, mostly level, and continuous, it works equally well for quick morning laps, longer weekend walks, or an easy place to get outside without committing to a hike or drive somewhere else.

Central Park offers a full recreational campus, with large sports fields, tennis and pickleball courts, playgrounds, a dog park, and a nine-hole golf course. Head over to the Stivers Lagoon nature area for a quieter, more natural section, with boardwalk paths and wetland habitats. If you've got kids to entertain, the The Aqua Adventure Waterpark (a seasonal, city-run water park) offers pools, water slides, a lazy river, and more.

This fantastic mix of everyday exercise space, scenic natural areas, family amenities, and destination features is a major draw for the Cherry-Guardino area.
